Make space for the work.

A renovation brings plenty of decisions. Moving furniture and belongings out of the working area helps you organize the project and gives you a chance to decide what should return when it is finished. Begin with a room-by-room inventory, including the larger items you will need to move.

Separate the essentials.

Keep the things you will use during the project at home: everyday clothes, kitchen essentials, documents and the equipment needed for the work. Put those items in an obvious place so they do not accidentally join the boxes headed for storage.

Prepare furniture thoughtfully.

Clean and dry belongings before packing. Check the manufacturer’s care instructions for finishes and fabrics. Choose suitable breathable coverings where appropriate, protect corners for transport and keep removable fittings with the item. Avoid wrapping damp belongings and sealing that moisture inside.

Choose a flexible starting point.

Measure furniture and compare storage footprints with space for access. Ask about the actual indoor conditions if you are storing delicate materials. Confirm the rental period, notice arrangements and any charges with the team; project schedules can change, so understand the agreement before moving in.

Bring things back in stages.

Before collection, check that the renovated room is ready for furniture and follow the contractor’s guidance for finishes that need to cure. Retrieve belongings in the order you plan to use them. Keep your inventory until everything has found its place.
