Start with your list.
Bring measurements of larger items and a rough box count. Tell the team what you will collect regularly and whether any belongings need particular conditions. The more specific your list, the easier it is to discuss suitable options.
Look at the journey to the door.
Ask about vehicle access and unloading arrangements. Check the route from the loading point to the unit, including any steps, lifts or narrow turns. The doorway clearance can matter as much as the floor dimensions for a large piece of furniture.
Understand when you can visit.
Confirm the actual access hours and whether staffed hours are different. Ask how entry is arranged and what happens if your plans change. Discuss deliveries or commercial use if those are part of your requirements.
Read the agreement.
Ask about the current rate, additional charges, minimum period, notice requirements and insurance arrangements. Review the permitted-items policy and confirm any restrictions relevant to your belongings. Take time to understand the terms before agreeing to them.
Confirm before transport.
Check that the size and location you discussed are available for your intended date. An online enquiry sends your preferences; it does not create a reservation. Arrange the move once the operator has confirmed the details with you.
