Make the gap feel smaller.
A move rarely happens all at once. You might be leaving one home before the next is ready, downsizing without making every decision immediately, or taking time to settle into a new neighborhood. Start by separating what needs to travel with you from what can safely wait.
What to keep within reach.
Pack an essentials bag for the first few nights: chargers, a change of clothes, documents, keys and the things you use every day. Keep this with you. Label the remaining boxes by destination room and give each one a number that matches a short inventory.
Measure before the moving day.
Write down the width, depth and height of larger furniture. Check whether it can be dismantled, and keep fittings in labeled bags attached to the relevant item. A storage footprint describes floor area; the entrance, ceiling height, stacking and access aisle also affect what will fit.
Arrange the timing.
Ask the location team about availability, entry arrangements, unloading space and the paperwork needed before arrival. Confirm the current rate, minimum rental period and notice requirements before arranging your moving vehicle. An enquiry starts that conversation; it does not reserve a unit.
Pack for the return journey.
Put the items you will retrieve first near the entrance. Keep a clear route through the space and take a photograph of the packed arrangement for your own reference. When your new address is ready, your inventory makes collecting the right boxes much easier.
